A Welcome from Jane Buttery
Thank you for visiting my page. Like some of you, I am the mother of two daughters and a grandmother of two boys. I enjoy writing stories for children, and I am lucky enough to have found some good local illustrators who bring these stories alive for readers.
As a teacher, I saw the need for local books about our interesting region, starting with the book about the Harrow Fair in 1995. Since then, I have tried to show how Essex County has great places to visit, such as Jack Miner’s Bird Sanctuary, Point Pelee Park, Colasanti’s, and Serenity Lavender. I found an interesting history, too: new settlers came across Lake Erie as early as 1784 and were involved in the war of 1812-14 with Tecumseh and his warriors against Americans. By 1834, Black people were discovered real people whose stories had to be told in novels.
I’d love to know if you enjoyed looking here!
